Labor Day Retreat Registration Begins!

Registration has started for the Labor Day retreat. The cost will be $90, $115 if your student wants to do horseback riding. We are going to Shenandoah Springs Retreat Center in Madison, VA(location of last year’s High School Retreat). The theme this year is “Connect”. We will explore how to be a part of a faith community. A friend of mine, Josh Daffern (Pastor to Students at Broadmoor Baptist Church in Shreveport, LA) will be leading our teaching times and Joel Harder will be leading our times of worship. All students will be at the camp at the same time. Our worship times, meal times, and play times will be combined with separate times in small groups based on age.

All student who are WILL BE in 7th-12th grade in the fall are invited. Friends are welcome as well.Registration is available on the FBCA website:

Laser Tag Saturday after AYC-Now open to all students!!

Just a reminder that this Saturday, June 19th, we will be going to Shadowland for a couple games of Laser Tag. I’m going to go ahead and open this to ALL YOUTH. Youth Church starts at 6pm. After its over we will head over to Shadowland off of Franconia Rd. We will be done with everything and students will need to be picked up no later than 9pm at the Youth Garage.

Aaron Carpenter’s Resignation

Aaron Carpenter has resigned as the Student Ministry Associate as of June 16th, 2010. The Carpenters will be heading back West to be closer to family and to pursue som areer opportuities in the teaching field for Crystal. Please pray for them as they return west. He has done a great job and I’m disappointed they wont be here longer but I understand and wish them well.

Fast Approaching Events!

The deadline for getting signed up for Centrifuge is approaching. We need your non refundable deposit of $50 by April 25th. We need to make sure we have enough spots to accomadate those who want to go. Centrifuge is a week long camp July 19th-24th. Students will spend time in Bible studies, participate in team building recreation, they’ll be able to choose some fun/challenging afternoon activities and be a part of an exciting time of worship each evening. Each night there will also be a group fellowship activity the whole camp participates in.

Operation Flamingo is also upon us. Students participate in this fundraiser by coming to Youth Church on the first 4 Saturdays of May. After Youth Church we get in to vans and covertly plant yard flamingos in the yards of church members who have either paid to have us put them in their yard or a friends yard. Theses funds go towards the students summer activities (Centrifuge and the Choir Tour). The more weeks your student attends, the more money they earn. It kicks off May 1st.

Burly/Gurly

Burly/Gurly= Guys only and Girls only events! The Guys will be going Go Kart Racing and the Girls will be going to make Glass Mosaics. Both will be a great time!
